How it works
- The sit-up is one event in Japan's New Physical Fitness Test: lying on your back with knees bent, you measure how many times you can raise your upper body in 30 seconds. It is used as an indicator of abdominal strength and muscular endurance.
- The average reps shown here are rough estimates based on representative average values by age and sex from Japan's Sports Agency "Survey on Physical Fitness and Motor Ability (New Physical Fitness Test)." For the latest, accurate figures, please check the official statistics.
- The target age range is 6-19 years (full age). For boys the count rises with age, peaking at roughly 30 reps around ages 16-17; for girls the benchmark tops out at roughly 22 reps around ages 13-17.
- Enter your child's record to display the "difference from the average (+/-)" and the "ratio to the average (record ÷ average × 100%)." A ratio of 100% or more means they exceed the average for the same age and sex.
- Individual differences are large depending on build, exercise habits, measurement conditions, and more, so results are only a guide. Use them as a reference for health and fitness, and consult your school or a specialist for details.
