Ballet, Ballroom Dance & Yoga Calorie Calculator
Calculate the calories burned doing yoga, stretching, ballroom dance, and ballet from METs. Just enter your weight and exercise time to also see rice and body-fat equivalents.
Input
Estimate the calories burned doing yoga, stretching, or dance using a simple METs-based formula. METs are representative values, so actual energy expenditure varies by individual.

How it works
- Calories burned are estimated with the simple formula "METs × weight (kg) × exercise time (hours) × 1.05". To find the net expenditure after subtracting resting metabolism, some approaches use (METs − 1), but this tool uses the common simple formula.
- METs is an index of exercise intensity where rest equals 1; higher values mean more intense exercise. This tool uses yoga 2.5, stretching 2.3, ballroom dance (slow) 3.0, ballroom dance (fast) 5.5, and ballet/modern dance 5.0 as reference values.
- The METs values are estimates based on representative figures such as Japan's National Institute of Health and Nutrition METs table for physical activity (revised edition). Even for the same activity, actual intensity varies with vigor of movement and skill level.
- Alongside the kcal result, reference conversions are shown using about 234 kcal per bowl of rice and about 7.2 kcal per gram of body fat.
- Actual calories burned vary by individual depending on build, muscle mass, condition, and exercise proficiency, so the displayed values are only estimates. For health management and weight loss, take a holistic approach that includes diet and sleep, not just exercise.
