How it works
- The annual hour limit is the income wall ÷ hourly wage, rounded down to whole hours. Rounding down ensures that working exactly the limit keeps your annual income at or below the wall.
- The monthly limit is the annual limit ÷ 12 and the weekly limit is the annual limit ÷ 52 (holidays, busy/slow seasons, and paid leave are not considered).
- The walls are preset to representative amounts (1.03M yen ≈ income tax guide, 1.06M yen ≈ social insurance at certain employers, 1.30M yen ≈ social-insurance dependent, 1.50M yen ≈ full spousal special deduction guide). You can also enter a custom amount (in units of 10,000 yen).
- Enter your current monthly hours and it computes your projected annual income as wage × hours × 12, then shows whether it crosses the selected wall and how many more monthly hours you can work.
- Note: the wall amounts and eligibility change with each year's tax reforms, your employer's size, commuting allowances, bonuses, and more. Figures are estimates only; confirm actual dependent status, taxation, and social-insurance requirements with your employer, municipality, or tax office.
