How it works
- Fuel cost is calculated as distance ÷ fuel economy × gas price. The distance is divided by the fuel economy (km/L) to get the liters of fuel needed, which is then multiplied by the price per liter.
- Choosing "round trip" doubles the entered (one-way) distance. If the outbound and return distances differ, enter the combined distance as a one-way value.
- Setting two or more people shows the per-person share, dividing the total fuel cost by the number of people. Amounts are rounded to the nearest currency unit.
- Using your real-world average fuel economy (rather than the catalog figure) gives a more accurate estimate. Real-world economy is often around 70–80% of the catalog value.
- Actual fuel use varies widely with traffic, air conditioning, load, driving style, and road conditions. The figure shown is only an estimate and does not guarantee your actual fuel cost.
