How it works
- Enter the five places (baktun, katun, tun, uinal, kin) and the tool counts the total days from the epoch (0.0.0.0.0) and converts them into the matching Gregorian date.
- The Long Count places are counted as 1 baktun = 144,000 days, 1 katun = 7,200 days, 1 tun = 360 days, 1 uinal = 20 days and 1 kin = 1 day. Uinal usually ranges 0-17 and the other lower places 0-19.
- Conversion goes through the Julian Day Number (JDN), mapping the Long Count epoch to JDN 584283 using the GMT (Goodman-Martinez-Thompson) correlation. Other correlation conventions can shift the result by a few days.
