Refill Prescription Date Calculator
From the first dispensing date, days supplied per fill, and number of refills, work out each refill's target dispensing date, pick-up window, total days covered, and the final end date.
Input
A refillable prescription lets a patient with a stable condition reuse the same prescription up to 3 times. This tool estimates the dispensing date for each refill.
YYYY/MM/DD
days
Number of refills (repeat count, up to 3)
Result
Enter the first dispensing date and days supplied per fill.
How it works
- For a refillable prescription (one prescription dispensed repeatedly, up to 3 times), this tool estimates when each refill can be dispensed based on the first dispensing date and days supplied per fill.
- From the second refill onward, the next target date is "previous dispensing date + days supplied," and dispensing is generally done at the pharmacy within about 7 days before or after that date.
- It shows the suggested dispensing period for each refill, the total days covered, and the estimated end date of the final refill.
- Refillable prescriptions are a system for patients with stable symptoms, available only when a doctor approves refills; medicines that require careful dosing are not eligible.
- Actual dispensing dates and counts vary depending on the judgment of the medical institution or pharmacy and how the system is applied.
- This is a reference tool for estimating dates, not a medical service. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for decisions about medication and visits.
