This is an approximate figure based on a standard deduction model. Your actual salary varies with your city, age, dependents, deductions, and bonuses. Use it as a guide only.
How it works
- Using a standard deduction model for company employees in Japan (Kyokai Kenpo), it computes gross → take-home and reverse-calculates, to the yen, the gross annual salary that yields your entered take-home. This is a guide only.
- If you choose monthly take-home, it is multiplied by 12 to get the annual take-home before reverse calculation. Monthly gross is shown as gross annual ÷ 12 (bonuses are not considered).
- Social insurance uses the employee share: health insurance 5.0% (a rough nationwide Kyokai Kenpo average), employees' pension 9.15%, and employment insurance 0.6%, with standard monthly remuneration caps (health 1.39M yen, pension 650,000 yen). Checking long-term care insurance (ages 40–64) adds 0.8% to health insurance.
- Income tax applies the tax table to taxable income after the employment income deduction, the 480,000 yen basic deduction, social insurance, and other deductions, plus the 2.1% special reconstruction tax. Resident tax uses a 430,000 yen basic deduction, a 10% income-based portion, and a 5,000 yen per-capita portion.
- It does not reflect individual deductions (dependents, spouse, life insurance, iDeCo, furusato tax), bonuses, or municipality-specific resident tax. Confirm exact figures with your employer, a tax accountant, or your municipality.
