Required Plate Appearances Calculator
Just enter your team's number of games to instantly find the plate appearances needed to qualify for the batting title. Uses the NPB factor of 3.1, and entering your own plate appearances shows how many you still need, whether you qualify, and the required innings pitched for pitchers too.

How it works
- Required plate appearances are found with 'team games × 3.1'. In Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) a season is 143 games, so the threshold is about 443 plate appearances; only batters who reach it are eligible for the batting title (top batting average).
- The 3.1 factor reflects the idea of roughly 3.1 plate appearances per game. When the result is not a whole number, round up to the nearest whole plate appearance.
- For pitchers, the required innings pitched is 'team games × 1.0'. With 143 games that is 143 innings, and only pitchers who reach it qualify for titles such as the ERA crown.
- Enter 'your plate appearances' to see how many more you need to qualify and whether you have already reached the threshold. Useful for tracking progress mid-season.
- Different leagues and tournaments may use a different number of games or qualifying factor. For amateur or recreational play, enter the number of games that matches your own rules.
- Batting average is usually shown to three decimals (for example .300) and ERA to two decimals. When following title races, check whether a player meets these plate appearance and innings thresholds.
