How it works
- Enter your base hourly rate along with overtime, late-night, and holiday hours to see the premium wage for each category and the combined total.
- If you don't know your hourly rate, choose "From monthly salary" and enter your monthly pay and scheduled monthly hours to convert it automatically.
- This tool applies sample premium rates: 125% for overtime, 150% for late-night overtime, and 135% for holiday work.
- Late-night overtime (10pm–5am) combines the overtime premium with the night premium, which is why it is calculated at 150%.
- Premium rates and rules vary by country and local labor law, so adjust the results to match your own regulations and employment contract.
- Amounts are rounded for display. Check your official pay statement for exact figures.
Frequently asked questions
- What overtime rates does this tool use?
- Statutory overtime is paid at 125% of the base hourly wage and statutory holiday work at 135%. Late-night overtime (22:00–5:00) stacks a 25% night premium on the 25% overtime premium, so it is calculated at 150%.
- What if I don't know my hourly wage?
- Choose "calculate from monthly salary" and enter your monthly pay and contracted monthly working hours. The tool converts these into a base hourly wage and applies the premiums to it.
- Can I treat the result as my exact pay?
- It is an estimate based on the minimum standards of Japan's Labor Standards Act. Actual pay can differ with your workplace rules and premium settings, and amounts are rounded to the nearest yen, so confirm the official figure on your payslip.
