How it works
- Kinematic viscosity describes how easily a fluid flows. It is the dynamic viscosity divided by the density, and its SI unit is the square meter per second (m²/s).
- The stokes (St) is the CGS unit of kinematic viscosity, where 1 St = 1e-4 m²/s. One hundredth of a stokes is the centistokes (cSt).
- Centistokes (cSt) are widely used in lubricant and engine oil specifications. 1 cSt is exactly equal to 1 mm²/s.
- To use the tool, just enter the value to convert and choose its unit. The results in every supported unit are listed in the table.
- When a value is extremely large or small, it is automatically shown in exponential notation (e.g. 1.0000e-6) for readability.
