How it works
- Enter a value and choose its unit to see the converted value for every unit—km/L, L/100km, mpg (US), and mpg (UK)—in a single table.
- Higher km/L and mpg numbers mean better (more efficient) fuel economy, but for L/100km a smaller number means better economy. L/100km is the inverse of km/L, so the two are converted by dividing 100 by the value.
- US mpg and UK mpg use different gallon definitions, so their conversion factors differ. 1 US mpg is about 0.425 km/L and 1 UK mpg is about 0.354 km/L, so for the same mpg number the UK figure looks more economical.
- Useful for converting the catalog fuel economy of overseas or imported cars to the km/L figure used in Japan, or for comparing the European L/100km notation.
- Very large or very small numbers are shown in exponential notation; otherwise values are displayed with locale-based digit grouping.
