How it works
- Pick a year and month to display that month's daily Nine Star (from One White Water Star to Nine Purple Fire Star) as both a monthly calendar and a daily list. The current month is selected by default.
- At the top of the page it also shows the annual star (the central star of the year chart) for the chosen year and the monthly star (approximate) for that month. The annual star is derived from the Western year by a fixed rule.
- Each date on the calendar shows that day's Nine Star with a short colored label (One White, Two Black, and so on). Sundays are colored red and Saturdays blue.
- The monthly star originally switches on the solar month (setsugetsu) that begins at Risshun, the start of spring. Because it can shift around the boundary of the calendar month, please treat it as a rough guide.
- The daily Nine Star traditionally switches between the yang and yin cycles at specific days near the winter and summer solstices, but this tool approximates it with a continuous cycle that omits the switch. For precise readings, please consult a specialist almanac.
- This is intended as a reference for divination and direction-taking using Nine Star Ki. For important decisions, we recommend double-checking with a specialist or an official almanac.
