How it works
- The base unit is the newton-meter (N·m). The value you enter is first converted to N·m and then to every other unit, so you get the same result no matter which unit you choose.
- kgf·m is calculated using the standard gravitational acceleration of 9.80665 m/s², so 1 kgf·m = 9.80665 N·m. This is handy when you want to align gravitational-system values with SI units.
- lbf·ft (pound-force feet) and lbf·in (pound-force inches) are imperial torque units. They convert with 1 lbf·ft ≈ 1.3558 N·m and 12 lbf·in = 1 lbf·ft.
- Useful for car and motorcycle maintenance, bolt tightening management, and any time a torque wrench's specified value is written in a different unit.
- Very large or very small values are shown in exponential notation. Conversions are based on theoretical defined values, so for real work also check the calibration and standards of the tools you use.
